Based in Cardiff, Great Bear Healthcare are one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of high-quality continence products designed to meet the individual needs of patients and Health Care Professionals (HCPs). 

They are passionate about product innovation and making a real difference to their patients’ quality of life. 

Great Bear commissioned Gravit-e to provide an integrated solution for the Nightingale Direct home delivery and nursing service, providing patients with the personal care products they need, discreetly at home. 

In 2021, Gravit-e proposed the migration of the Nightingale site to the Gravit-e Enterprise platform, offering easy content management and developmental flexibility.

Critically, the idiosyncratic requirements of the Nightingale online ordering and delivery service were built in to the Gravit-e solution and seamlessly integrated to the customised Sage 200 back-office system.

Below are some further examples of additional requirements met and features delivered by Gravit-e. 

• Homepage optimisation – On reviewing the Homepage, Gravit-e recommended several enhancements to improve performance including calls to action, user registration, customer mailing lists and a more intuitive workflow for easier navigation to boost customer traction. These recommendations were all introduced with the new Gravit-e platform.

• Product categories – Previously not available on the old Nightingale website, Gravit-e introduced structured product categories and searches making it easy for users to find the desired item.
• Product pages – In addition to the standard product page features, Gravit-e introduced sales boosting tools such as Accessories (Up-sells), Alternatives (Cross-sells), Request Sample buttons and YouTube videos.
• User registration workflows – Great Bear required three different types of user registration: patients, HCPs and patient registration by HCPs. The workflow begins with a new registration placed in a Provisional mode and subsequently either approved, declined or managed as a duplicate. Depending on the type of user, the process would vary as required.
• Repeat orders – using the quick order pad, the user is able to recall a table of previously ordered items, together with recommended quantities, to quickly create new orders. HCPs are able to place orders on behalf of specific patients.
• Customer re-order reminders – Based on a typical product lifespan, the system emails product re-order reminders to customers (if opted in under GDPR) in time to ensure timely replenishment.
• Dispatch Notification – Once the back-office system has dispatched the goods, Gravit-e is automatically updated and notifies the customer via email with courier information and links if required.
• My Nightingale dashboard – Patients and HCPs have access to their own account dashboards which include full order history, individual order details, account contact information and security (passwords) and email subscription options. HCPs also see full order history and details for their patients and have the functionality to register, view and manage their patients and their details.

As with all Gravit-e eCommerce websites, performance, resilience and security are critical to ‘always on’ safe service provision and therefore Gravit-e invest substantially in secure hosting facilities, penetration testing and monitoring. Due to the nature of the Great Bear and Nightingale Direct business, these factors were critical.
